Nearly 100 visitors joined Henrico Master Gardeners in the Short Pump Pollinator Garden on Saturday, Sept. 11
Nearly 100 adults and children joined Henrico County Master Gardeners in the Short Pump Park Pollinator Garden to tour the garden and learn about pollinators and gardening Saturday morning, Sept. 11, 2021. Visitors were particularly intrigued by butterfly caterpillars (especially Monarchs), butterfly eggs, chrysalises, other insect eggs, a crab spider and fruit on the Passionflower vine.
Children were able to make tissue paper butterflies and popsicle stick bees, color pictures of pollinators and get their pictures taken in front of butterfly backdrops which made them look like they had become butterflies! Children were also given snacks and foam stickers of pollinators.
Short Pump Park is located at 3329 Pump Road, Henrico, VA 23233 adjacent to Short Pump Elementary School in Henrico’s west end. The Pollinator Garden is located beside the dog park and behind the children’s water spray area.
