2026 Plant Sale will be May 30 at a new location

Henrico County Master Gardeners will hold their annual Pollinator Festival and Spring Plant Sale on Saturday, May 30, in a new location – the Eastern Henrico Recreation Center at 1440 North Laburnum Avenue.

Because of its growing popularity and the need for more space, the event is moving from its longtime venue at Deep Run Park. Organizers expect to have many more plants – more than 5,300 plants, including 300 varieties of perennials, shrubs, trees, herbs, houseplants, some annuals and a wide variety of vegetables, including cucumbers, celery, eggplant, tomatoes (cherry, beefsteak and patio), bush beans, squash and zucchini – to be offered for sale. Most of the plants have been grown by Master Gardeners and will be sold at discounted prices. Average price is $5. Floral arrangements and gently used garden items also will be available for purchase.

The Pollinator Festival will include educational displays, information and demonstrations from environmental organizations and state and local government agencies, displays, a photo booth, a plant clinic led by Master Gardeners and children’s activities coordinated by Junior Master Gardeners. The event also will feature a demonstration of vermiculture – the cultivation and use of earthworms to enhance composting – and will offer a sharpening service for tools and knives.

The festival will provide live musical entertainment and concessions available for purchase from food trucks. Admission is free.

“The Pollinator Festival and Plant Sale is our biggest event of the year, allowing us to share our passion for gardening and our expertise with the community,” said Co-chair Nadine Oswald. “It’s going to be exciting holding the event in a larger space. If you love top-quality plants at incredible prices, you’ll love the plant sale. The Festival is a family-friendly event that both adults and children enjoy.”

Henrico Master Gardeners are volunteers who act on behalf of the Henrico County Extension Office as educators in the community. They receive specialized training in environmental horticulture through Virginia Cooperative Extension.
