Family fun planned at Short Pump Park Pollinator Garden 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, Sept. 14
Join Henrico Master Gardeners at the Short Pump Park Pollinator Garden on Saturday, September 14, from 10 a.m. to noon for a fun family time. Gardeners will explore native plants and insects as they celebrate new interpretive signage that recognizes the importance of both.
The event will include an informational table with handouts, several children’s crafts featuring some cool bugs, and a tic-tac-toe activity to find native plants and insects in the garden. Kids can ‘pollinate’ garden plants and will receive a wind-up butterfly toy.
Admission is Free. Festivities will take place rain or shine.
Short Pump Park is located at 3329 Pump Road adjacent to Short Pump Elementary School in Henrico’s far west end. The Pollinator Garden was installed and is maintained by Henrico Master Gardeners. It is located beside the dog park and behind the children’s play and water spray area. The garden attracts butterflies, moths, hummingbirds, songbirds, bees and other pollinators and serves as an educational opportunity for children and adults.
