Pollinator Garden at Short Pump Park
3329 Pump Road, Henrico, VA 23233
- Installed June 2017 by Henrico County Master Gardeners & Parks and Recreation.
- Master Gardener volunteers do all the upkeep and maintenance – MG’s in Action.
- Every plant in the garden serves as a host plant, nectar plant or both to our native pollinators.
- 32 Native Plant species. See plant list HERE
- The garden is designated as a Monarch Waystation – it provides the host plants (milkweed), nectar plants, and shelter for Monarchs through their cycle of reproduction and migration.
- Bluebird House, donated by Wild Birds Unlimited, has hosted several bluebird families.
- Native Bee House has hosted both mason bees and leafcutter bees – efficient native bee pollinators!
- Outreach and Education Events with Master Gardeners are held throughout the year, including Sundays in the Garden” (2nd Sundays – June thru Sept) and “Weekend on Wednesday” (W.O.W.), sponsored by Henrico Recreation & Parks.
