Ant infestation

< 1 min read

Question: Ants have invaded and damaged my pecan tree. I’ve used lime and duct tape to seal the tree, but the ants are still there and continue to swarm and damage the tree. What should I do now?.

Answer: Ants are a sign of disease, and not the source of the damage. Ants are attracted to decay. We do not advise you to utilize any of these home remedies to get rid of them.  In particular, sealing the trunk and duct tape is in and of itself harmful to the tree.

Rather, we recommend that you contact a certified arborist, who can assess and diagnose the underlying problem.
